David has built and managed structured product businesses and has worked with product manufacturers and distributors to help develop products and propositions. Throughout his career David been one of the pioneers of the UK structured product market. David developed the concept of a “plan” as a way to distribute structured products via financial advisers and was responsible for the first structure that allows investors to buy structured notes where the gains were treated as capital. David set up and managed the Barclays retail structured product business which became the first vertically integrated structured product business in the UK before working at J.P. Morgan and the Royal Bank of Scotland. David helped establish an independent quantitative research business in 2012 that offers an assessment of the returns investors may receive and the risks that they face in response to demand from investors and increased regulatory scrutiny of structured products. The analysis is now used by institutional investors, discretionary fund managers and financial advisers to identify products that are suitable and appropriate. The analysis highlighted the attractive risk/return profile offered by many products and was an important element that led to the creation of Levendi Investment Management.
